Our
Story
It is 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic just hit; everyone locks themselves up at home. Stores are closed, school is out, handshaking is extinct. Work from home is in, masks are in, retail therapy and social media are in ✅. This is when we noticed, after hours of laying in bed and scrolling, that Shein and Forever21 hauls are in too. Buckets upon buckets of clothing, all for $500. At first, it seemed like a good deal. That many clothes all for just $500?! Spending $500 at a store like American Eagle would have only amounted to 1/4 of what you could buy at Shein. But with the cheap price tag of Shein clothes comes a plethora of tradeoffs. With such cheap prices, the clothes are not good quality. They cater towards the micro-trends on social media, where clothes quickly become in and out of fashion in a mere span of weeks. Plastic waste from the packaging is wasteful, and the clothes cause poor working conditions and pollution in third-world countries. This is why we here at via work to make sustainability a goal. Most sustainable stores have giant price tags on them, and while one could argue that those clothes are an investment, they aren't really feasible for a broke teenager or college student. Our prices aren't as cheap as fast fashion, but they are affordable, and we can guarantee that you will get your money's worth. Via our clothes, you can hop on and help us reach our ideal destination of a more sustainable future.
